Ethics, Human Rights & Inclusion Policy
Scout Arabia — operated by Aurelia for Advanced Software Development LLC, Amman, Jordan. Effective November 2026.
1. Why this policy exists
Scout exists to bring the work of local artisans, home-based producers and creative brands to a wider market, with a strong focus on women-led businesses. That purpose only holds if every product on Scout is made with dignity, fairness and respect. This policy sets out what we commit to, and what we expect from everyone who works with us.
2. Who it applies to
- Our team: employees, interns, freelancers and contractors of Scout.
- Our sellers: every artisan, producer, project and brand selling on Scout, registered or home-based.
- Our partners: suppliers, logistics and service providers acting on Scout's behalf.
Sellers accept these principles when they sign the Scout Merchant Agreement, through its Supplier Code of Conduct (Schedule C).
3. Our standards
We follow Jordanian law, including the Labour Law, and are guided by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
4. Human rights and fair work
- No child labour. No one under 16 may be employed in producing goods sold on Scout, and no one under 18 may do hazardous work, including work with chemicals, heat, sharp tools or at night. In family crafts, children may help only with light, age-appropriate tasks that never affect their schooling, health or safety.
- No forced or compulsory labour. All work must be freely chosen. We do not accept coercion, debt bondage, human trafficking, or withholding of wages or identity documents. Anyone may leave their work freely.
- Fair treatment and pay. People are paid fairly and on time, under clear terms they agree to. Harassment, abuse and intimidation are not tolerated.
- Safe and healthy work. Products are made in safe conditions, with proper care when using tools, heat or chemicals, such as in soap, candle, resin and food production.
5. Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Non-discrimination. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, religion, nationality, origin, ethnicity, disability, age, marital status, or any other status protected by applicable law. This applies to hiring, pay, promotion, seller onboarding, product visibility and how we treat customers.
- Fair curation. Sellers and products are selected on quality, authenticity and compliance alone.
- Active inclusion. We actively support women-led businesses, home-based and first-time producers, young creators, persons with disabilities, and refugee and host communities, through onboarding, training and visibility on the platform.
- Respectful workplace. Our team works in an environment free from harassment, bullying and discrimination.
6. Responsible sourcing
- Every seller signs the Scout Merchant Agreement, including the Supplier Code of Conduct, before selling.
- Products in regulated categories, such as food and skincare, must meet the applicable Jordanian licensing and safety requirements.
- Scout may ask sellers for information to confirm compliance with this policy.
- If a concern is confirmed, we work with the seller on corrective action first. Serious or repeated breaches lead to suspension or removal from Scout.
7. Raising a concern
Have a concern? Tell us
Anyone, whether team member, seller, customer or member of the public, can report a concern about a breach of this policy:
Email: ethics@scoutarabia.com
- Reports are handled confidentially. We acknowledge each report within 5 working days.
- We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
8. Accountability
The Founder & CEO is responsible for this policy and for how it is applied. We review it at least once a year, and update it as Scout grows into new markets.
